Trade on Granite Shield, use E early when an auto-attacker walks into you, and do not skip the auto into W reset; in all-ins, many Malphite players also get more from saving Q until after the knockup so the speed steal matters on the chase instead of during the launch
Level 6 turns top Malphite into a map threat, so side lane is mostly a short visit—catch the wave, make someone answer, then disappear toward the next fight before the enemy gets a comfortable setup
Do not treat every R like a backline highlight clip; if the carry angle is fake, ulting the diver or the two-man clump your team can instantly reach is often the better Malphite play, and recent data supports that his wins are less about solo-kill or roam snowballing than about one engage actually changing the fight
Start with the target your team can actually cash in on. If the enemy carry is exposed with no peel layers, take them. If that angle is fake, look for the diver entering your backline or the two-man clump your team can hit immediately after your knockup. Malphite loses a lot of fights by waiting for the perfect backline dream while a simpler engage was already winning. Before you press R, ask one quick question: when they land, who on my team is already in range to finish this? That usually gives a better answer than chasing the highest-value nameplate every time.
