Play off your tether: Rakan’s best engages start from an ally E anchor, then use R as a movement state to bend the path and W once the touch is real, because open-floor engages make his whole entry too honest .
In lane, sell W without donating it—use passive, Q, and autos to keep your walk-up threatening, then commit only when the enemy’s stop-button is gone, your ADC can follow, and you still have an E route after contact .
Rakan’s better games are long, layered fights rather than fast-expiring snowballs: recent data shows his results climb with game length, and even real early deficits stay salvageable if later fights let him peel, re-enter, and punish the first committed step .
Roam when bot can breathe and your arrival point already gives you an E body to play through. In practice, that usually means the wave is not about to strand your ADC under pressure, your lane opponents cannot immediately hard-force on them, and your mid or jungler is close enough that you show up with a tether instead of walking in naked. If those pieces are missing, stay bot and keep selling W threat. Rakan roams are best when they feel like you are joining a play already forming, not when you are leaving lane just to prove you moved.
