On Ryze, every Q needs a job—pick the sequence before you cast it, with EWQ for the guaranteed hold, WEQ for the faster speed/damage line, and double-E setups when you want Flux to create the next bounce or exit path
The lane usually breaks when you let EQ decide for you, so only fast-clear when you actually want the crash, reset, or move; casual wave spam is how Ryze burns mana, loses the wave, and turns a playable lane into a real hole
Realm Warp is mostly a space-taking spell, and Ryze’s best fights start from a Flux bridge through a frontliner, nearby wave, or choke point—he scales, but recent data says he does not get the same late-game bailout as Kassadin or Aurelion Sol if the early game already forced him to cast from too close
Use Realm Warp when it changes who arrives first, not when you need it to make an even fight look magical. The clean Ryze ults are the ones that shorten a rotation from side to river, move your team onto vision or choke control before the enemy is set, or turn a shoved mid wave into a sudden numbers advantage on a side skirmish. If you are casting it straight into a fully ready front line, you are usually asking too much from it. A good quick check is simple: if the ult gives your next W or E an easier target and your team lands first, it is probably a good one.
Ryze's spells deal extra damage based on his Bonus Mana, and he gains a percentage increase to his maximum Mana based on his Ability Power.
Passively, Ryze's other basic abilities reset the cooldown of Overload and charge a rune. When Ryze casts Overload with 2 runes charged, he gains a brief burst of Move Speed. On cast, Ryze throws a charge of pure energy in a line, dealing damage to the first enemy struck. If the target has Flux on it, Overload deals extra damage and bounces to nearby enemies with Flux.
Ryze traps a target in a cage of runes, damaging them and slowing their movement. If the target has Flux on it, they are instead rooted.
Ryze releases an orb of pure magical power that damages an enemy and debuffs all nearby enemies. Ryze's spells have additional effects against the debuffed enemy.
Passively, Overload deals even more damage against targets with Flux.On cast, Ryze creates a portal to a nearby location. After a few seconds, allies standing near the portal are teleported to the target location.
